Too often than not, websites are like disguises, even the alleged “personal websites” out there are riddled with incongruent nonsense that would make a Politician look believable. People in business don’t share enough of what makes us bubble inside, and what makes the tick, tock. I don’t really play like that. Never have, so it’s going to be difficult to start now. You have to know too, I’m a Yorkshireman – we tend to say it how it is. I’m an emotion-junkie at heart also, so I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. I’m also totally crap at playing “work mode” and then playing “fun mode” where somehow my personality is supposed to morph from one human being into another. I mean, who the heck can do that? Like, why? I’ve never understood it, we are the best of us when we’re most relaxed, so play that card as often as you can, not some contrived personality you’ve made up in the mirror. And to prove this point, why is it always at the infamous Christmas parties (I’m assuming we’ve all had the misfortune to attend) that remarkably, you realise your boss is actually a pretty decent sort and not the twitface-douchebag you once thought they were? You’re nodding aren’t you? Well, that’s because they relaxed and acted themselves – a human being. Well that’s my piece on this matter done. It’s now down to a little sharing of what makes me tick. Get under my skin, roam this page, this site, and hopefully by the end of it, you’ll have a pretty good idea of what you’d expect from me in real life.
My aim on this planet is to transform people, businesses, communities and lives, especially those who will serve this world long after I’m gone. I will do this by sharing with the world my bold, innovative products, services, concepts, opinions and people, all delivered with my own inherently unique and personalised approach. I intend to infect all those I touch with creativity, motivation, inspiration, laughter and the true belief that anything is possible.
Like an etching in stone, the world will know I was here for a very long time.
I think business is like life itself. You get out of it what you put into it. If you’re not happy, speak up. If you work together, you’re going to achieve more. If you smile, then the world will smile with you.
I live by the philosophy that you’re only ever as good as the people that surround you, the opportunities that you take, the mistakes that you make, the mindset you develop and of course, the luck you create.
I cannot tolerate bullshit, I’ve tried, and I can’t. It’s like the fly you need to swat, the itch you have to scratch. Tolerating arseholes in business is something I will not put up with, even if it means abandoning ship, an arsehole will never be on a ride of mine.
No matter how many chancers invade my space and waste my time, no matter how many things I’m involved with fail, I’m still one of life’s purest optimists trusting that the next time, as long as I learn the lessons, things will be different.
I’m a man of my word. If I told you I will do something, I’ll do it. If I forget, I’ll be mortified, but then I’ll still do what I said I would because I’m a man of integrity. If you’re not someone who does what you say you will, then genuinely, I don’t want to hear from you. I’ve enough time-wasters floating around my life as it is, I’d quite like a day off, thanks.
Few people will remember what you said, or even what you did, but people will always remember how you made them feel.
What do people gain from working or collaborating with me? What is my value?
Modestly, I’d rather deflect the responsibility of the bulk of this section if I may and instead point you to a place where other (non-induced) people share their own verdict on me and the value that I bring. You can check out some of those kind endorsements I’ve been lucky enough to receive.
For your understanding, I tend to feel that my value-added attributes sit in four key areas:
Integrity – which includes heart, passion, up-front communication, congruency, honesty, loyalty.
Business – which includes start-ups, leadership, management, connections, strategy, negotiations, team building, mentoring.
Marketing – which includes branding, positioning, KPI, digital communications, strategy, commercial viability, ROI.
Ambition – which includes big thinking, goal setting, planning, dedication, commitment, inspiration.
